Environment and Social Justice

We live in a world where we face multiple major challenges in terms of the Climate Emergency, and growing rates of global and national inequality. Locally, the town has faced more regular major flooding events, affecting homes and businesses, and many in Bradford on Avon and the wider community face increasing financial struggles.

As Christian's we are called to act as custodians of God's creation, and to respond to with love and charity towards those facing hardship.  This can be hard in a very complex world, with so many voices making sometimes contradictory calls for action, and national and global leaders equally at odds in how, and even if, these challenges can be faced.

Bearfield Church cannot fix this. But we aim to do what we can, and our Environment and Social Justice group meets regularly and brings actions and discussion points to Trustees, Leadership and in Sunday meetings.

In practical terms, we have taken the step to partially re-wild Bearfield's ground

Music events at Bearfield

As well as Sunday services, Bearfield hosts a number of specific music events each year.

At Christmas, our Nine Lessons and Carols is a major community event that often leaves standing room only as the audience is taken through a collated blend of traditional, modern and folk carols, alongside scripture.

Our garden has also played host to more informal rock, folk and jazz offerings as part of summer social events, with worship band members turning their hands to more secular styles of music.

You can keep up to date on music events at Bearfield via our social media feeds.
